Leonard Frances McQuirk?

Can you help place these with a manufacturer? They are mostly marked 'L.F.Mc...1971, 1972' or '1973' with some of the SF figures (I've put straight on my smallscaleworld blog) having the later 1974 date. There is nothing about the man on Lost Mini's wiki or TMP, so I'm guessing they were sold under another name or commissioned by one of the larger companies?

The Roman archer in green tunic is marked with his full name 'Leonard Frances McQuirk' as is the Samurais horse.

Any Ideas?

Mystery cavalry figures

Can anyone help with the two figures on the right? I'm not aware of having any horses belonging to them. S range British Dragoon for size comparison.

18th Century figures

I have been going through 18th Century figures (Marlburian, Jacobite Rebellion, Seven Years' war, and American War of Independence), prior to dealing with these on the S Ranger blog.

All in this first picture are definitely S Range - but can anyone identify them? The first five figures (left to right) are all Seven Years War, I believe, and the foutth and fifth figures are the same. The final figure may be an AWI French infantryman?

These are, I fear, home casts. The last two figures are a British Drummer and a Highland infantryman. Any ideas on original manufacturer?

Again, any idea on manufacturer for these two?

The final figure on the right is a Scruby, but what about the others? The officer and drummer seem better detailed than the other castings.

Finally, these. The kneeling firing pose on the end is reminiscent of a mystery Napoleonic dismounted hussar in a similar pose, who turned out to be a Lamming. No possibility this might be a figure from the mysterious Lamming Seven Years War range?

Mystery Voltigeurs

These are being sold on e-bay as Garrison but aren't - any ideas? The officer and bugler poses vaguely remind me of some Revo British Infantry (Whittlesea Miniatures?) but of course the could be something a little less obscure. Any identification welcome. Reasonably sure they are 25mm.

Someone left me a comment on The Old Metal Detector asking me to go to their blog and look at this picture for possible identifications of these two figures - they assume Scruby for the figure on the left - any views on the one on the right? Thanks, Clive

Metal copies of well known plastics

First, let me thank Clive for inviting me to contribute here. In the future I will probably post the odd unknown Nappie Mounted or ACW Advancing, however this is a collection of pirates! My first post is related to Clive's latest post over at 'The Hinton Hunter' and my comments. The images are 8.5 Mpx so if you click on them they should come up at least twice life-size and clear.

This is a set of one each of the contents of the Airfix 'Civilians' set. I do have two or three others, but they are really poor home-casts, while these are very well done. The mould-release mark on the base tends to be diagonally across the base from corner to corner, the Airfix originals had them straight across form side to side. Any ideas?

Here is a set of Esci's Napoleonic Russian Grenadiers [I said they were Austrians on HH, Doh!], these seem to have been factory painted in a gloss 'Toy Soldier' style. This is a part set, I have seen larger and smaller groups being sold on eBay. This time I have an 'idea' - Below - but it's not cast iron, and may only hint at the geographical region rather than the same company?

These I do know, they're two sets by a Hungarian company - Panits Laszlo - out of Budapest, and the phone number (569-681) is short enough to hint at the Soviet era. The police seem to be original designs, while a few old friends appear in the pilots set both Esci and Airfix.

The only real link is Esci, otherwise these have a poorer finish than that of the Russians, especially on the underside of the base, are matt (matte) rather than gloss and as suggested by the police set try for some originality?

Any Ideas on either of the first two would be much appreciated, and further info. on Panits Laszlo (does it mean "Lazlo's paintings" for instance!!) would also be useful.

ACW project

I am covering my attempt to sort out a large number of very poor (I think pirated) Hinton Hunt ACW castings into some semblance of order over on the Hinton Hunter blog. I also have some units of other vintage figures and odds and ends. I am intending to post the relevant figures on all three blogs but also have some unidentified figures or ones needing some confirmation, which I am posting here. Comments will be welcome!

A few colonials

I am pretty sure the British are Minifigs 20mm (pre S Range) colonials - BC 1, BC 3 and BC 5 - British infantry advancing, officer, highland officer - and then the Indians are more of a mystery from the Minifigs list. Update - they are S Range - I have just removed them from their balsa bases and although the underside of the figure bases have been filed I am pretty sure from one clearer one they are CI 3s, which makes them Afghan tribesmen advancing. As the cavalry came from the same source I am assuming they will be CC 3s Afghan Cavalrymen. but any views would be welcome.
