Can you help place these with a manufacturer? They are mostly marked 'L.F.Mc...1971, 1972' or '1973' with some of the SF figures (I've put straight on my smallscaleworld blog) having the later 1974 date. There is nothing about the man on Lost Mini's wiki or TMP, so I'm guessing they were sold under another name or commissioned by one of the larger companies? The Roman archer in green tunic is marked with his full name 'Leonard Frances McQuirk' as is the Samurais horse.
Any Ideas?

Top left are supposedly Minfigs S range Egyptians. As for codes, the spearman was one of 5 different figures I received that were part of an order for 1 type......hence the use of the word supposedly.
The archer on the other side next to the one with the Green top is, I think, the S range Macedonian archer - again, I have one.
I should also point out that the 'Egyptian' spearman isn't actually Egyptian as he carries a crescent shield...just that it was one of the figures Minifigs sent me as part of an order for Egyptians. This would be around 1970-1972.
Ah! I've been following the Lone's'ranger, but not noticed them, my fault, does this mean they did a SF range, or that he worked for more than one Co.?
I thought the shield was a bit Persian Peltast'ty, but the lion-cloth is very Egyptian?
Anyway, thanks for that, I'll go and do more research now I know what to look for!
I admit that I have never heard of Leonard Frances McQuirk, and it certainly isn't one of the names associated with Minifigs. Most, but not all, Minifigs S range were designed by Dick Higgs - see http://www.intonet.co.uk/~rblack/ for more info-but it is possible that McQuirk designed some. Are you certain that he is down as the figures designer rather than just their owner/painter?
They do look like they've been done with an engraving machine, but it doesn't seem deep enough to have been done straight into the lead, leading one to assume the marks were in the masters/mould. But it's quite possible, does anyone know or remember a War Gamer of that name?
The name does not appear on the commercial figures I have.
And looking closer, that Samurai is also on a Minifigs horse.
Yeh, No, I think I've pretty much gone with your suggestion they're engraved with the owners name, and they all seem to be Minifigs, Ah well...onwards and upwards! Cheers for the help, any ideas on the C16/17th ladies I posted the other day?!!!
Sorry, not my period plus too modern. Could be any one of half a dozen makers that I wouldn't recognise - including possibilities such as Phoenix, etc, etc - I think they did ranges, don't know what they looked like, there were others.
Zulus certainly look like Hinton Hunt

Thanks John, taking the crossbowman as a later Minifigs (he's a bit chunky for the 's' range?) that's all of them sorted out, so thanks to both of you!
